CLIENT
Fluo is a Finnish circular economy group built around a network of successful local businesses operating across the country.
As the group expanded, it faced an important strategic transition. The individual companies had strong local identities, entrepreneurial cultures and established customer relationships, but the group needed a clearer shared direction to realise its potential as a national circular economy player.
Co-founders was invited to help define what could bring these businesses together without losing the strengths that had made them successful in the first place.
CHALLENGE
The challenge was not simply to create a new group brand. It was to reconcile two ambitions that could easily pull in opposite directions: building a stronger national company while preserving local entrepreneurship, autonomy and customer proximity.
The central question became:
How could a group of autonomous local businesses become one company without losing what made them strong?
PROCESS
We began by looking closely at how the local businesses and their entrepreneurs operated, what customers valued and where the group could build a distinctive position against larger national competitors.
The work revealed that locality, efficiency and approachability were not obstacles to becoming a national player, but potential sources of competitive advantage. Rather than replacing the identities of the local businesses with a conventional corporate model, the new direction could build on their strengths while connecting them to a larger circular economy ambition.
Together with the entrepreneurs and group leadership, we translated this thinking into a shared strategic position and growth story. The new name, Fluo, and the resulting brand architecture and identity made that direction tangible across the organisation and market.
WHAT CHANGED
Ekokuljetus Group became Fluo, with a shared identity and clearer position as a national challenger in the Finnish circular economy market.
The new direction brought the local businesses together around a common ambition while allowing them to retain the entrepreneurial strengths and local presence that differentiated them from larger competitors.
The strategic position was translated into a new name, brand architecture, identity, website and communications, creating a coherent platform for Fluo’s continued growth. Co-founders has continued working with the group as the new position is implemented and strengthened in the market.
